What sets Vida Asana apart from other yoga retreat centers is their jungle setting, located close to the beautiful beach of Playa Hermosa, only 90 minutes from the airport in San Jose. Vida Asana serves healthy garden to table cuisine with guests enjoying three organic meals per day. Vida Asana accommodates gluten-free diets as well.
Vida Asana is located on a river in the jungle one mile from the beach with two yoga shalas, spacious dining and lounge area, pool, hammocks, and many places to chill, relax, write in your journal, and get to know your peers.
The rooms are modest yet very quiet and comfortable. There are bicycles on site for us to use and there is access to surfboard rentals, nature hikes, visits to waterfalls, and all sorts of other adventures.
Retreat Details
OUR ITINERARY: Yoga, fitness, meditation, adventuring...we'll do it all during our 8 day, 7 night week at Playa Hermosa in Costa Rica.  We will enjoy 2 yoga, fitness and meditation practices daily in one of our two open air shalas surrounded by the jungle.  All delicous, organic meals are included in our week.   With plenty of time to connect with others, go on adventures, ride bikes to the beach, or rest by the private pool or in a hammock at our retreat center, our week is sure to be a restful, rejuvinating and relaxing trip we all need.
 
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
  • A Cacao Ceremony on opening night of our retreat
  • One complementary 60 minute massage during the week​
  • A day trip to Rainmaker Park Rainmaker Park is the best of both worlds as it feels
    like a national park yet is relatively unheard of – a hidden gem! The gorgeous shade-making tree canopy
    and clear waters keep this hike super fresh even on the hottest of days. One of our favorite guides will take
    you on this adventure, ensuring that you see as much wildlife as possible while educating the group about
    the inner workings of the rainforest and her plant and animal life. It is a true rainforest experience,
    complete with hanging bridges, rushing rivers, waterfalls, and clear fresh-water swimming pools. The tour
    finishes up with a home cooked traditional lunch.
  • A day trip to Manuel Antonio National Park  A very popular to-do on the Costa Rican ‘bucket list’.
    At this park, you are guaranteed to see monkeys, sloths, raccoons, and variety of other wildlife. Your guide
    will have a scope for close viewing and take you along the reserve culminating in one of the most beautiful
    beaches in Costa Rica - white sand and mellow surf make for a perfect ocean swim. On the way back to Vida
    Asana, you will stop at the famous ‘El Avion’ restaurant for the view, a bite to eat, smoothie, or an adult
    beverage.
  •  Mirador Hike Our retreat host Sean leads a beautiful walk along the local lookout point made from
    modern ruins and claimed by local artists. Beautiful views and a leisurely stroll make this an enjoyable
    group activity and it benefits the local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu organization, BJJ Jacó.
  • A mid-week Beach dinner at Vida Hermosa Restaurant Featuring delicious food and a fabulous sunset right on the water.
  • A Live Band and Sangria night (with a non-alcoholic option) + Feria on the last night of our retreat 
    2 hours of live music...dancing is highly encouraged!
    Feria, also called local market, comes to us on the last night.  Featuring local art, jewelry, hats, bags, clothes, incenses, organic cosmetics and much more!​
  • Access to the pool, sun deck with lounge chairs, hammocks, and covered lounge area and bikes to ride to and from the beach
Travel, Additional Information & FAQ’s
Fly into San Jose Airport on Sunday, February 9th.  Please book your tickets to arrive on or before 1:30pm on Sunday, February 9th if you would like to use our included group shuttle to the retreat center. 

Fly out of San Jose Airport on Sunday, February 16th.  Please book your tickets to depart after 12:00pm on Sunday, February 16th if you would like to use our included group shuttle to the airport.

We will gather at the San Jose airport on Sunday, February 9th and take our shuttle together to the retreat center (group shuttle included in the retreat price).  If you would rather not wait for all our retreat participants to get in (in case of delayed flights and a wait for our group to gather, there's inevitably a wait when groups gather), you can take your own taxi to the retreat center (cost of taxi not included in the retreat price).  If you are in need of arranging a different arrival and transportation time, our retreat center hosts can arrange airport transportation with a trusted driver for an extra fee (around $110-150.00 one way).

A little about Krista
Hi there, my name is Krista!  I am a Washington DC-based yoga and fitness instructor, and I believe in the power of yoga and fitness to change lives for the better.  I see my goal as helping my clients gain strength and stamina on the outside and on the inside.  I believe that being grateful for our strong and capable bodies in every activity enriches our lives, no matter what our bodies might look like.  I love teaching both yoga and fitness and I would love to have you join me!

I am an RYT 200 yoga instructor, and an ACE personal trainer.  I teach Hatha, Flow and Yin Yoga and in addition Strength sessions.  I have been teaching in the fitness realm for the past 18 years, and teaching yoga for the past 12 years.  In March of 2020 I founded my online studio in addition to in-person classes and private clients, you can find out more about my online studio here.

Refunds and Cancellations: Refund less deposit before December 1st, 2024 . In case of cancellation, you may transfer your deposit or your reservation to another person as long as you notify Krista Mason in advance. Due to arrangements made with our vacation hosts, there can be no exceptions to this policy.  All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver to participate on this trip.
We HIGHLY recommend that you consider purchasing Travel Insurance. Travel insurance companies like Travel Guard and Trawick offer policies that insure your investment in case you need to cancel (including “cancel for any reason” coverages), coverages for expenses incurred due to to weather & travel delays, personal property loss and emergency travel medical.  Please review policies carefully to choose the coverage you need.
