County Clare, in the west of Ireland, is a wonderful place to visit with beautiful countryside which varies magically. From the Wild Atlantic Way and the craggy coast to the karst landscape of the Burren to the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle.

The Wild Atlantic Way is a scenic driving route that stretches along the western coast of Ireland. It is one of the longest defined coastal driving routes in the world, covering approximately 2,500 kilometers (1,500 miles) from County Donegal in the north to County Cork in the south.

It is an awe-inspiring stretch of coastal beauty that captures the essence of Ireland's untamed wild landscape. Towering cliffs, pounded by the mighty Atlantic Ocean, command attention with their sheer majesty, while secluded beaches offer a tranquil respite amidst the wildness. The rolling hills, emerald meadows, and quaint coastal villages add a touch of charm to this magnificent panorama. The Wild Atlantic Way is an invitation to embrace the untamed, to lose yourself in the raw beauty of nature, and to witness the extraordinary power and tranquillity that coexist along this mesmerizing coastal journey.
Retreat Details
OUR ITINERARY: Each morning, we will have an all-levels yoga or movement practice followed by a delicious and nutritious brunch featuring homegrown and organic food by our resident chef.  Afternoons will be spent with included and optional adventures featured below, or by spending time at our retreat center relaxing in the outdoor cedarwood hot tub, ocean view barrel sauna, infrared sauna or herbal steam room.  All evenings except one we will break bread together with dinner by our resident chef followed by a yin, yoga nidra or restorative practice to close out our evenings.
 
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
  • A ferry ride and day trip to Inis Mor Inishmore is the largest and most popular island of the three Aran Islands. It is home to a population of around 800 people who predominantly speak Irish as their first language. Inishmore boasts many scenic attractions and historical monuments, including some which date back to early Christian times. A highlight for visitors is Dun Aonghasa, an Iron Age fort perched precariously atop a 100-meter-high cliff face. Visitors can also take in other sights like the Wormhole, where the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series was held in 2014 and 2017. The Seven Churches, St. Benan’s Church, Inishmore Seal Colony and many more.  
  • A day trip to the Burren including St. Brigid’s Well and O’Brien Monument, Liscannor Kilfenora Cathedral and the High Crosses Leamanagh Castle, A fairy cave, Caherconnell stone fort, Poulnabrone Dolmen Michael Cusack Centre, Former Gravestone quarry in a stunning part of the Burren, Burren Perfumery and Lunch.
  • Dunguaire Castle and Galway City tour  across the Burren and into Galway city. This tour features different stops than the previous Burren tour. We will have a 2-hour stopover in Galway city to see the sites, shop, dine and enjoy a drink with live traditional music. We will learn about Galway city before arrival and receive all the best current information in bullet points (where to eat, best live music, best retail sales, best live events, best city sites, etc.).
  •  Guided Cliffs of Moher hike A beautiful walk through local country roads and onto the Cliffs of Moher.  We will take an evening stroll because the Atlantic sunset is incomparable.
  • An afternoon/evening in Ennistymon, North Clares largest town  ‘The Cascades’ are among the most photographed natural attractions in Clare. The 5km-long Ennistymon Historic Town Walk is suitable for people of all ages and explores Ennistymon’s origins in medieval times to the arrival of the O’Brien’s of Thomond in the mid-16th century to its development as a market town in the early 1800s. Ennistymon’s many family-owned and run businesses and large selection of restaurants and pubs serve up an authentic Irish experience through locally sourced food and nightly Traditional Irish Music sessions. Keep an eye out for exhibitions and music gigs at The Courthouse Gallery, a studio space for Visual Artists in Ennistymon and its hinterland. And don’t forget the Foust Gallery on Main Street.​

My plan for myself is to fly into Dublin and take the train (about a 3-3 1/2 hour trip with one transfer) across the country to Ennis and then taxi/Uber to our retreat center...we can coordinate travel plans closer to the trip so we can be on the same train if desired.  If you want a shorter travel day, you can fly into Shannon and taxi, uber or bus to the retreat center.  I am happy to help with arrangements when we get a little closer to our retreat date.

A little about Krista
Hi there, my name is Krista!  I am a Washington DC-based yoga and fitness instructor, and I believe in the power of yoga and fitness to change lives for the better.  I see my goal as helping my clients gain strength and stamina on the outside and on the inside.  I believe that being grateful for our strong and capable bodies in every activity enriches our lives, no matter what our bodies might look like.  I love teaching both yoga and fitness and I would love to have you join me!

I am an RYT 200 yoga instructor, and an ACE personal trainer.  I teach Hatha, Flow and Yin Yoga and in addition Strength sessions.  I have been teaching in the fitness realm for the past 18 years, and teaching yoga for the past 12 years.  In March of 2020 I founded my online studio in addition to in-person classes and private clients, you can find out more about my online studio here.

Refunds and Cancellations: Refund less deposit before December 1st, 2024 . In case of cancellation, you may transfer your deposit or your reservation to another person as long as you notify Krista Mason in advance. Due to arrangements made with our vacation hosts, there can be no exceptions to this policy.  All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver to participate on this trip.
We HIGHLY recommend that you consider purchasing Travel Insurance. Travel insurance companies like Travel Guard and Trawick offer policies that insure your investment in case you need to cancel (including “cancel for any reason” coverages), coverages for expenses incurred due to to weather & travel delays, personal property loss and emergency travel medical.  Please review policies carefully to choose the coverage you need.
