Dear Friends,
I was thinking more about the mixture of the ancient and the modern again this past week. As I walked through the city in Athens last month, on any given street there would be ruins, remnants of an ancient world interspersed among the present world. The ancient and the modern, together. I’m headed to California next week. Part of the reason I’m going is to help my parents pack up my childhood home, their home of 49 years, to move to another state. There’s a mixture of emotions there, packing a house that is filled with all of my childhood, and some of my children’s childhood memories. While there is sadness and loss in that move, there is also a deep excitement in the life they will be able to build ahead of them, there is a deep gratitude that my parents get to move before they have to, when they get to make the choice for themselves instead of circumstances making that choice for them. The sadness and loss, and the excitement and gratitude can be held simultaneously, because we hold multitudes of emotions. We don’t have to feel one way or another, we can hold all. Just like those streets that hold both ancient and modern, we can hold multitudes. I hope you have an amazing week, my friend. Love Krista
