Dear Friends,
The late-summer heaviness abounds around here…you know the kind where you’re anxious for a change in the weather, but the mosquitoes are still out in force and the air is still heavy with humidity. Perhaps by the time this gets to you that will have changed. A few weeks ago, a couple students and I went on a little hike in the park. It was hot in our area that week…really hot, and while Friday wasn’t the hottest of days of the week, it was plenty warm. And yet, in the park surrounded by nature instead of cement, with the trees shading our walk, things were cooler, they were more sustainable, they were significantly more pleasant. Perhaps not perfect, but certainly not dreadful. I was thinking about that anxiousness for change we often experience. I was wondering how it might feel if we saw that anxiousness, and recognized it for what it is, but also practiced finding contentment in the here and now, even if the here and now isn’t the most comfortable space. Perhaps we can begin to see and notice the spaces that are more pleasant in our lives even when we deeply want change. My dear friend, I hope you can find something a little more sustainable, a little more pleasant, even if the desire for change is at the forefront of your heart. Have an amazing week. Love Krista
