Dear Friends,
I thought that this was the week I’d get back to writing, that I would feel inspired again…but I sit down and nothing comes. Life gets that way sometimes, right? As some of you know, my dad passed away quickly and unexpectedly earlier this month, so fast and unexpected it was a bit like whiplash. I have this laundry list of circumstances, timelines, people, events that I am so profoundly grateful for through this whole experience, and they run through my mind on the daily, but at the end of the day my dad still passed away, and that is really hard. This past weekend my son, some friends and I took the paddle boards and the canoe out and spent a beautiful and delightful day on the water. I thought of my dad as I taught two twelve year olds how to do a c stroke and a j stroke in the canoe like my dad had done for that age group for a lifetime. I told them a joke I had heard from my dad a million times about “high finance canoeing” (you go from bank to bank)...it landed pretty flat because, well, they’re twelve year olds and also, I just don’t tell jokes like my dad did…but no one does. Gratitude and profound sadness at times go hand in hand as we walk through this life. Have an amazing week, my friend. Love Krista
