Dear Friends,
While I was in California last week we spent a day in San Francisco, and one of the stops we made was the ruins of the Sutro Baths. Built in 1894 by millionaire Adolpho Sutro, these sprawling seawater baths contained 7 pools of various temperatures, holding up to 10,000 people in its facility. The ruins were fun to wander, I had always wanted to see them, but hadn’t prior to this visit. While they were fun to wander, I couldn’t help but think that the baths themselves must have been wildly impressive in their heyday. Now they are just remainders of a time past and gone, but even in those remainders, there is beauty in the ruins. My dear friend, I hope you can see the beauty in the past, and the beauty in the present. They may look and feel different, one may be more or less spectacular than the other, there may be spaces in past or present that hold no beauty…and yet, the beauty is there. Have an amazing week. Love Krista
