Dear Friends,
There’s this neighborhood in the DC area that happens to be the most magical neighborhood in the world this time of year. Every year, a few days after the Tidal Basin cherry blossoms reach peak bloom, the Kenwood neighborhood in Maryland bursts into life…stuffed to the gills with cherry trees lining the streets making tree tunnels everywhere you look. Canopies of blossoms all around. Get there in the right week during the year and anywhere your eyes land is surrounded by the puffy light pink branches filled with blossoms. I was walking through the neighborhood earlier this week and as I walked a big gust of wind blew and suddenly the world was a snowglobe of cherry blossoms surrounding me on all sides, absolutely filling me with joy. This year’s cherry blossom season was particularly short. A burst of intense heat coupled with wind and rain right after peak bloom made for sparse blossoms within days of blooming. The season was short, but just because it was short doesn’t mean it was less beautiful. My dear friend, I hope we can take in and enjoy the beauty around us, no matter how long it lasts. Have an amazing week, my friend. Love Krista
