Dear Friends,
Gardening has always been one of those activities I feel like I should enjoy, but in reality I don’t really. I sure do appreciate a beautiful garden, but do I have one myself? No, no I do not. I was with a client the other day, she needed to get some gardening done and it was her hour to spend, so that’s exactly what we did. I was having a great time digging holes and chatting, and as I did, I was thinking, it’s not that I dislike gardening, it’s that I don’t have time in my life for it. So instead of gardening feeling like a relaxing activity and something I look forward to, it’s a burden and a thing on the list of things that I need to get done. But this particular gardening session was nothing like that…because it wasn’t my garden and it wasn’t my time, it was someone else's garden and someone else’s time, and what a delightful time it was. Later that day I was helping a client think through how to keep showing up to her movement practice even though her life situation has shifted a bit…and, my friend, we were able to reframe some thinking and figure out spaces and we found a way forward even in a changed situation. Sometimes it takes some creative thinking to figure out ways to show up for areas in our lives that perhaps might feel like a burden, or areas that we no longer have the same time or space that we used to. But I think, with a willingness to expand our thinking and think creatively we can continue to show up for those areas in life that might sometimes feel necessary, but not exactly desired. I hope you have an amazing week, my friend. Love Krista
