Dear Friends,
While we were driving across Washington this summer, my kids and I stopped at a scenic view. I wanted to do a hike my brother had suggested we take, my boys wanted to keep driving…we were all honestly a bit salty about the others opinions and desires…so we compromised and took a short little walk in a nearby meadow with a beautiful view. I recently ran across this story I had reposted a few years ago, where a person talked about her college professor saying “anything worth doing is worth doing poorly.” She went on to talk about how she didn’t understand that saying for years because she, personally, couldn’t do anything poorly, and had to do everything perfectly…until she realized that anything worth doing is worth doing poorly, because doing it poorly is better than not doing it at all. I saw that a few days ago and it just gave me pause…I’m sure much like it did several years ago when I reposted it. I think there are times that we all get in a mindset that if we can’t do something fully, we might as well not do it at all. But, my friend, doing something poorly is better than doing nothing. Doing something in a way that might not be up to the standards you set up for yourself, but still doing it…well, that’s still doing it. Doing something partially is more than doing nothing. I hope, this week, we can give ourselves a little more grace…with the knowledge that anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. Have an amazing week, my friend. Love Krista
